Memorial Day 2022- A Perfect Day for a Picnic

More than 130 neighbors of all ages and from all over the WCGN area from Washington Lane to Chelten and from Germantown to Pulaski came together for a beautiful afternoon of good food and drink (did you have a mint julep?), fun activities for the kids (did yours come home with a fan he/she made?), and plenty of lively conversation with those who grew up here (like Rose Slater on Marion) and those who moved in the week before (like Paul and Sarah Barrett and their sons on Haines).

WCGN Picnic
Great to get together once more!

We even got a little WCGN business done by approving the changes to our Bylaws in order to allow us to officially become a non-profit. To view the minutes of the business meeting, click here.

Many many thanks to Roberta Moore and Suzanne Ponsen for beautifully organizing this event! Thanks also to all the block liaisons who distributed the flyers; the early set-up crew: Bob Lane, John Wellington, Tim Marsh and Luke Russell; the fabulous greeters who signed you in: Gloria Greer and Melissa Wellington; grill masters Luke Russell and Paca Narvaez; soundman Ralph Marothy; Nancy Kreider, who guided the children at the craft tables (also Cat Clotman who joined her later); the cleanup group (you know who you are); our hosts at 131 W. Walnut Lane, Luke Smith and Rama Assad-Smith; and last but not least all of the great neighbors who shared their goodies and their good will.

The Board is also very grateful to those who filled out the interest survey – this is a big help to us moving forward! If you have not done so and would like to, please email the Board.

The picnic was such a success we may have to plan another in the early fall!
